YouTube Test Blog

In a continuing effort to make the blog hip with the technology n'at, I'm doing a test blog and attempting to embed a YouTube video onto the blog.  If successful, I see the MWBT&PC taking advantage of all the wonders YouTube has to offer.  Here is a personal favorite . . .

Whoops, I almost forgot about the commitment to the theme, here is another video worth viewing . . .

Special Thanks to Peaks and Gutters for the tip.

OY! Successful, but an issue with the Archives section being overtop the video. One day the MWBT&PC will figure this stuff out.

I think the problem is that the video is widescreen format, unlike the drunk guy in the standard format.

You guys should do a breakdown of the inconsistencies in the car chase. For starters: what were the Hardy's doing in the Hill District to start?

Secondly, if the suspect is coming off the 31st Street Bridge and heading eastbound (I think he says eastbound) on Liberty Avenue, why wouldn't they go directly across the Bloomfield Bridge to Liberty Avenue where they'd be a mere 10-12 blocks away from intersecting with the suspect?

Third, how many times do they change direction on Bigelow Blvd.? I think they go through that intersection with the Bloomfield Bridge from each direction about 6 times at the start of the chase.

I guess since they end up Downtown, the dispatcher must have said "westbound on Liberty Avenue."

Specific to Mt. Washington - The suspect starts heading up Sycamore Street, but pops out onto Grandview Avenue at the top of PJ McCardle.

I know the Burgh has a convoluted system of roads, but this is impossible under the time constraints we are lead to believe exist during the chase.

Another quick one, not Mount specific - the Armstrong tunnels are one way per tunnel, not one incredibly narrow two way tunnel.

Don't forget that the armstrong tunnels would lead the chase across the 10th street bridge instead of the Smithfield Street bridge as the movie portrays.

Also the showdown scene at the end continually jumps back and forth across the Monongahela River as they film on both Carson Street and 2nd Avenue.

i think the inconsistencies in the chase scene really need to be deeply analyzed and made into a post. i elect lady rivera to do this as we all know her 'big lawyer job' is made up.

And I could be wrong, but in the Armstrong Tunnel scene I think it looks like they're going away from the river before they drive through an exploded cop car and come out on the Smithfield Street Bridge.

And as Heath pointed out, Frasier's dad says to corner the suspect on Second Avenue as they cross the Mon toward Carson Street.

Very offensive segment in an otherwise thrilling and satisfying film.

This isn't an inconsistency, but a really offensive segment in my personal opinion takes place in the Armstrong tunnels. The fire created from a collision between a pick up truck and a police cruiser in this tunnel would not rise to a temperature hot enough to disintegrate both vehicles, allowing all cars behind the accident to pass through completely unscathed. They would have had to plow through significant wreckage to get through the tunnel at that point.

If the documentary Loose Change taught me anything, it was that fires created from fuel do not burn hot enough to disintegrate cars or NYC high rises.

Off topic - Will the Pipe Club be issuing an endorsement in the City Council District 2 race?
